Glennes E. Nelson, age 88, of Lake Mills, died on Sunday, March 06, 2016, at the Lake Mills Care Center.

Glennes E. Nelson, a son of Clifford and Amanda (Sime) Nelson, was born on December 21, 1927, in Northwood, Iowa. Raised on the family farm, he grew up in the Northwood area along with his younger brother, Curtis. Baptized and confirmed at the Shell Rock Lutheran Church, he attended country school.

On June 16, 1956, Glennes married Trena Mae Kuiper at the Congregational Church in Hollandale, Minnesota. Together, they farmed for many years before moving into Lake Mills in 1980. Then, he worked at Larson Manufacturing in Lake Mills until he retired.

Glennes loved his family and enjoyed being with his friends. He looked forward to gardening, doing yard work and wood crafts, collecting toy tractors, camping, fishing, and traveling to south Texas during the winter months. He was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and a forty year member of the Eagles in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

Glennes is survived by his loving wife of almost sixty years, Trena, of Lake Mills, Iowa; his daughter, Audrey Lynn (Brian) Levine, of Ionia, Iowa; his grandchildren, Mathew (Heather Richmond) Levine, Christopher (Kimberlee Miller) Levine, and their children, Koree Miller and Brodee Levine, Nicole Levine; one brother, Curtis (Pat) Nelson, of Northwood, Iowa; his nephew, Chad (Jamie) Nelson; and his niece, Michelle (Kevin) Petznick, both of Northwood, Iowa; and his great nieces and nephews, Loghan, Landen, and Emelia Nelson, and Maeghan and Lauren Petznick; along with numerous cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford and Amanda Nelson, and one nephew, Michael Nelson.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 PM, Thursday, March 10, 2016, at Salem Lutheran Church, 401 S Lake Street, Lake Mills, Iowa, 50450, with Pastor Melinda McCluskey officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Wednesday evening, at the Mittelstadt Funeral Home, 902 East Main Street, Lake Mills, Iowa 50450, and again one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at Salem Memorial Cemetery, Lake Mills, Iowa.
