This is a variety of information pertaining to John Rheinart.

Excerpts from the book "In the Beginning There was Land," by Kathy Fisher, 1978

-- First board of supervisors for Washington County in 1860, included, John Rheinart, Dutch Creek

-- Dutch Creek Township Towns - Paris-Valley. Paris in the southeast quarter of section 30 was the first town site officially platted in Dutch Creek.....John Rheinart, a native of France and early Democratic politician in the township and county, farmed nearby and claimed he named the town for "his Mecca."

-- On November 22, 1860, E.B. Bolens founded the Washington Democrat {newspaper}. The paper didn't prosper in Republican Washington, and every once in a while publication would be suspended for a few weeks. In October 1862 the agents for the Democrat were: John Rheinart, Valley; W.R. Nugent, Wassonville.....

-- Mills -Rheinart Mill and Allright Mill. There were several mills on Dutch Creek over the years. Most were sawmills, but there were at least two gristmills. John Rheinart had a grist and saw mill near Paris by the mid-1850s and listed them for rent in 1861.

-- The name of David L. Parker....In years later Mrs. Parker was married to John Rheinart, until recently a citizen of our city; but now they reside in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, possibly temporarily, but probably permanently.

-- 1854 State Census, Washington Co., Dutch Creek Township - John Rheinart household had 8 people living there; 4 males and 4 females, including 7 "aliens" and 1 voter.

-- 1860 Federal Census, Washington Co., Dutch Creek – John Rhinehart (41) and Frederick C. Rhinehart (70) listed as farmer and both born in France
