Mrs. Mary Stein’s Rites Held Sunday
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Stein, who died Friday, were held Sunday at the Orr Funeral home at 9:00 o’clock, conducted by the Rev. Sampson Cocks and Rev. O. L. Byrus of Osceola. Mary Catherine Barber, daughter of David and Rebecca J. Barber, was born at Trivoll, Peoria County, Illinois, April 22, 1868, and passed away at Indianola, June 30, 1933.
The greater part of her life was spent in Peoria County. Here she was married to Frank F. Stein, June 19, 1890, residing on a farm in the same county until the death of her husband July 3, 1919. Two children were born to this union: Nicholas A. Stein, who passed away February 19, 1920 at the age of 28 years, and Leafy L. Swan of Indianola. She united with the Methodist church at Trivoll, Ill., quite early in life and kept her membership there. She was a good woman, well respected and loved by all who knew her; she was a good neighbor and always ready to give a helping hand. The death of her son, so soon after the death of her husband, was a great blow to her, a shock from which she never completely recovered. She leaves to mourn her passing one daughter, Leafy L. Swan; two grandsons, Paul R. Jaeger of Indianola and Frank B. Stein of Trivoll, Ill., besides several nieces, nephews and host of friends. Her only brother died in April of this year. Her body was taken back to her home in Illinois where services were held July 3.
