Obituary
Georgia Headrick Shields, oldest child of J. L. and Ann Headrick, was born near Wick, Ia., July 6, 1873, and died January 20, 1901, aged 27 years 6 months and 13 days. June19, 1894 she was married to Carl Shields, of Union County and to them was born a son. Never of a very strong constitution, she grew up to a frail womanhood and the hectic flush and deep cough gave premonitions of consumption. In November 1900 she came to visit her parents at Wick, but her strength failed rapidly and she never returned to her home. Early in life she united with the M. E. church, and the Christian’s hope sustained her as she went down into the valley and shadow of death for she feared no evil but called her loved ones about her and made every arrangement for her funeral and said she hoped that they would not weep at her funeral for she would then be so happy. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. G. W. Mair, of Afton, Iowa, with interment at Wick.
