In his youth Jim enjoyed sports including baseball, football and wrestling. He had a love for muscle cars, including his classic Mustang Mach I.

May 31, 1980, he married his high school sweetheart, Christy in Winterset, IA. Their passion for horses brought them together. The garage was a place of many memories. Jim loved working on cars and trucks. This beloved hobby led him to working many weekends with his son, Jared on race cars and even took a couple spins around the Indianola dirt track.
