Mr. James Cash, of Bevington, died on the 17th from a sore throat and other troubles allowed to be the dregs of the grip. He was sick on Thursday, and died the following Tuesday.

The funeral took place on the 19th which was attended by a large concourse of citizens. The funeral procession extending over half a mile.
[The 1885 Iowa Census shows James Cash, age 28, born New Jersey, occupation - teacher in public school, living in Jefferson Township, Warren County, Iowa, (page 192, line 6) living with Mike and Ellen Cash, probably his parents, both born in Ireland.]
