Art C. Chumbley, 79, lifelong resident of Warren County, died Sunday morning at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following an illness of several months. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Peterson’s Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Indianola I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Mr. Chumbley was an employee of the county for 48 years. From 1913 to 1950 he supervised the construction of bridges, and after 1950 he served as county weed commissioner. He is survived by his wife, Ada; four children, William of Rochester, Minn.; Elmer and Mrs. May Ellen Conklin of Des Moines, and Carl of Lincoln, Nebr.; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Noah and Clay of Indianola, and George of Milo; and five sister, Mrs. Rosa McCoy of Las Animas, Col., Mrs. Susie Honderick of LaCrosse, Kan., Mrs. Martha Chumbly, Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Emma Wood of Des Moines; and Mrs. Myrtle Currier, Mason City.
