Jesse Bitting
(December 2, 1893 – September 6, 1959)

Late Notice of Former Resident’s Death Received
Somewhat tardily word has been received of the death of Jesse Bitting at his home in Excelsior, Minn., Sept 6, 1959. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bitting, who formerly lived for many years a mile and a half north of Indianola on the farm now occupied by Gilbert Piffer. He leaves his wife and two daughters. Mrs. Bitting was a veteran of the First World War. He was a decorator by trade. For a number of years he had written for the Excelsior paper, a colomn called “Bitting’s Hit or Miss” which was a popular feature in the paper and was soon to have been syndicated had he lived. He was a cousin of Mrs. VanCanine of Indianola and of the late Fred Bitting. [Copied from an article dated Tues., Jan 12, 1960, from a scrapbook at the Warren County Historical Society Library, Indianola, Iowa]
