Pearl J. Moon Buried Wednesday
(May 21, 1891 – February 2, 1935)

Pearl J. Moon, son of Solomon D. and Mary Moon, was born near Liberty Center, Iowa, May 21, 1891, and died at his home near Medora, Iowa, Feb 2, 1935, aged 43 years, 9 months and 11 days. In the winter of 1917 he was converted and joined the church at Brown’s Chapel, under the ministry of Rev. Benj. Hamilton. On March 6, 1918 he was united in marriage to Carrie R. Goodale, who survives. His was a life of industry and of honest integrity. He was a citizen highly respected and noble and always willing to assist in every worthy cause; an admirer of righteousness and a lover of truth. Feeling his country needed his service, he joined the ranks on Sept 5, 1918, and was honorably discharged. It was while he was in camp he contracted the mumps, measles and influenza, followed by rheumatism, results of which left him with a weakened heart, resulting in his death. He was a member of the American Legion.
He leaves to mourn their loss, his devoted widow, his mother and brother, Clyde, of McAllen, Texas, and another brother, Carl, of Artesian, S. D., and a host of other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and two brothers, Alva, who died in infancy, and Ray, of Artesian, S. D., who died almost one year ago.
Poem - No time for last farewell, no time for the shock of fear. Scarcely a moments’ halt on the shore, with the guide and the boatman near. Dear, how surprised you were to go, with little to suffer, little to know, only a moment of dark, a dream of the fleeting night, and then the beautiful break of day and the quiet peace of light; snd you found yourself where you longed to stand, In the repose of the Fatherland.
Funeral services were held at Orr’s funeral home in Indianola, Feb 6, 1935, at 2 o’clock p.m., conducted by Dr. A. E. Slothower, of Des Moines, who officiated at Mr. and Mrs. Moon’s marriage nearly 17 years ago. He was assisted by the Rev. Reed Kessler, of Medora. The body was laid to rest in the Indianola cemetery. Card of Thanks – We wish to express our appreciation to our many neighbors and friends for their kindness and sympathy during our bereavement, also for the beautiful flowers. – Mrs. Carrie Moon, Mrs. Mary Moon and sons, Carl and Clyde, Mr. and Mrs. Doran Goodale and family
