Death of David Cook
David Whitson Cook was born May 21, 1842, in Hamilton County, Indiana. When nine years of age his father died, he then came to Lacona, Warren County, Iowa, and there grew to manhood, and when the war broke out he enlisted in the 334th Iowa volunteers, and was discharged August 1865. He married December 24, 1865, to Miss Sarah A. Oxenreider, to this union were born twelve children, the youngest son dying in infancy and the oldest daughter preceded the other two years ago. Ten children are left all of whom were at his bedside at the time of his death. He leaves 34 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, they with the heart broken wife are left to mourn the departure of a kind, loving husband and father. He departed this life January 11, 1916, at his home in Ft. Dodge, Iowa, age 72 years, 5 months, and 21 days. The body was laid to rest in Oakland cemetery Ft. Dodge, Iowa.
