Obituary – N. C. Prall
Nathan C. Prall, son of Thomas and Rachel Prall, was born near Iowa City, Johnson County, Iowa, September 25, 1861, and departed this life at his home in Carlisle, Iowa, June 22, 1920, at the age of fifty-eight years, eight months and twenty-eight days. In 1877 his parents moved to Warren County and located on a farm four miles southeast of Carlisle where he made his home until his marriage. He received a part of his education at Ackworth Academy. He was married March 9, 1892, to Nora May [Miller] Prall and soon after, settled on a farm just east of the old home, where he and his wife spent twenty-six years of happy wedded life, until two years ago, when he moved to Carlisle. To this union were born seven children, four daughters and three sons. Two daughters, Lola and Edith preceded their father to that bright and sunny home, December 1 and 2, 1918. Seventeen years ago he was converted and at the time of his death, was a member of the Carlisle M. E. church. His life was an upright life, a Christian life, which gave the assurance that he was fully prepared to meet his God. He was devoted to this family, provided every need, for he was a loving husband, a good father, a true friend and his influence for good was felt by all who knew him. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and five children, Arthur, Eva, Stanley, Ruth and Dwight; also five brothers, Arthur and Frank of Calif.; Ellsworth, of Mason City, Iowa; James, of Philadelphia, Pa., and Charles; of Carlisle, Iowa, and a host of friends and neighbors. Funeral services was held Thursday afternoon, June 24, 1920, at the hone conducted by Rev. W. H. Meredith, of Manning, former pastor of the Carlisle M. E. church. The body was then laid to rest in the Carlisle Cemetery.
Car of Thanks – We wish to express our thanks to the neighbors and friends who so kindly assisted us during the illness and death of our loving husband and father, also for the beautiful floral offerings.
Mrs. Nora Prall and family
