Servetus L. Grieves

S. L. Grieves
S. L. Grieves who died Saturday after a lingering illness was born Oct. 16, 1839, in Green County, Ohio. He went to Illinois when quite a small boy and came to this county thirty-nine years ago and located west of town on a farm. Mr. Grieves was married to Mary L. Larsh in 1875, and to this union two sons, Charles M. of Custer County, S. D. and Alvin, of Houston, Texas, were born; they were here with their mother during Mr. Grieve’s illness, and Mrs. Grieves will return with Charlie to remain until spring.
Mr. Grieves remained on his farm west of town where he was quite successful as a farmer and stock raiser until 1892 when the family moved to Indianola since which time he had been engaged in the stock business. He had been a member of the Presbyterian Church for nearly a quarter of a century, his funeral was held Monday at 10:30, conducted by Rev. D. Everett Smith.
