Obituary
Nellie Ellen, daughter of J.M. and Harriet Long, was born near Milo, IA., Sept 25, 1884, and died near Liberty Center, this county, March 13, 1910, age twenty-five years, five months and twelve days. She was united in marriage with Emory Sandy Dec 23, 1903. To them were born two children, daughters, Evelyn and Mildred. She was seized with illness on the third of March and though she improved after the first attack yet she never fully recovered, and on Saturday, the 12th she suffered a relapse and after much suffering, she passed away Sunday, March 13th, leaving her husband and their two daughters, her father, mother, one sister, Louise; and two brothers, George and Harry Long, besides a host of sorrowing friends. Her husband was on his way to Canada with their goods at the time of her death and was expecting her to follow later, but it was not to be so and a few minutes after his receiving the sad news of her death he started back on the way to the old home where he arrived Friday the 18th. She was a devoted wife and mother, an amiable friend and neighbor, though of a retiring nature, she was loved by all who knew her. The funeral services were held in the Methodist church in Liberty Center, conducted by Rev. C. W. Proctor, and the interment was in the beautiful cemetery there. The body rested in the home of J. H. Sandy, her father-in-law, for a full week; awaiting the return of the young husband; and a neighborhood of friends vied with each other in kindliest ministries, they have the thanks of the sorrowing family.
