Obituary
Della Belle Chase was born near Milo, Iowa, September 19, 1873, and died at her home near Sandyville, February 26, 1910, at the age of thirty-six years, five months and seven days. She was married to George E. Kirkpatrick, February 25, 1894. To this union were born two daughters, Jennie and Inez. She has suffered for the past five years from tuberculosis and both husband and children have done everything in the power of human hands to alleviate her suffering, never leaving her slightest wish ungratified, at one time moving to Canada for her health. She has been a patient sufferer, a kind mother, a loving wife and an obedient daughter. At the age of fifteen she joined the Christian Union Church. She afterwards joined the Highland M.E. Church and fifteen years ago transferred her membership to the M.E. Church at Sandyville. For the past five years she has seldom been able to attend church but her family has had Bible reading and prayer in the home for her. The afternoon before her death she asked to have the scriptures read and after a prayer she expressed herself ready to go and in only a few hours passed on to the home which only a prefect trust in Jesus and a pure life can give us. She leaves her mother, husband, two children and three brothers to mourn her loss beside a host of other relatives and friends. The funeral services were conducted at the home south of Sandyville by Rev. Fair, of Milo, assisted by her pastor, Rev. Bean, on February 28, 1910. “But wherefore weep? Her matchless spirit sours beyond where splendid shines, the orb of day; and weeping angels lead her to those bowers where endless pleasures, virtues’ deeds repay.”
