Obituary for Mrs. Evelyn Diane Smith-Peno
Loving and beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and great grandmother. Evie the caregiver, friend and loved one went home to Jesus, March 10, 2015 at Taylor House in Des Moines. Per Evelyn's request, a private family celebration of life service will be held at a later date at Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle. Evelyn was born on October 30, 1957 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa to Lester and Erika Smith. Evelyn worked for the United States Postal Service until her retirement in 2008. Evelyn loved to spend her free time gardening, fishing, and playing games with her family, especially her grandchildren. Evie was preceded in death by her parents Lester and Erika Smith and father and mother in law Dominic and Tillie Peno. Evie leaves behind a legacy of love shared with husband John Peno; children, Sarah(Blake)Wyckoff, Angela Beaman-Smith, Julie(Phil)Costabile, Jodi(Tobi)Wyckoff, Jason(Leigh)Peno and Joe Peno; sisters, Deb(Richard)Rutledge and Penny(Richard)Harwood; brother Mark(Jann) Smith; 12 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Memorials may be directed to Taylor House Hospice.
