BRAZELTON, REED C.,East Washington Township [now Lincoln Township], Justice of the Peace, Summerset; was born in Jefferson county, East Tennessee, May 8, 1813, and was fourteen years of age when his parents moved to Vermillion county, Illinois; was all through the Black Hawk war, from the beginning to the end; in 1834 he went to Wilwaukee, Wisconsin, and was with a surveying party all over the state; in 1865, he came to this county, and located two miles east of Indianola, on a farm; he had all the advantages of the common schools of Illinois, and graduated at New Market College, in Tennessee; studied law, and was admitted to the bar; he began in his profession in 1844, and continued for about fifteen years, until coming to this county; he has been twice married; first to Miss Nancy Lemley, of Vermillion county, Illinois, who died near Indianola, in 1873, leaving a family of nine children; he again married to Margaret, widow of Samuel Snyder, February 13, 1875, a native of Pennsylvania, who has four children by former marriage; Mr. B. has been justice of the peace for four years, and school treasurer for seven years.
