Samuel Scott

Indianola Herald, Indianola, IA, Thurs. Sep 8, 1892
The friends of Mr. Samuel Scott (colored) were pleased last Saturday to see him pass down East Main Street on his way home wearing a Harrison hat which gave him the appearance of the typical colored gentleman. Mr. Scott has a good team, wagon and harness, was well and comfortably dressed, his wagon was loaded with lumber and other things which he was taking to his very comfortable home on his own farm south east of the city. He and wife have raised a large family of children all respectable citizens. Under democratic policy he was once a slave but by a better and more righteous republican policy he and his are enjoying the blessings of the liberty of which God purposed all men should partake.
