Rosultha McEwen was born in Wapello County, nine miles north of Ottumwa, in Highland Township, December 26, 1872, and at her home seven miles north of Ottumwa, November 16, 1915, age 42 years.

In the year 1884 she was united with and was baptized in the Baptist church, in which she remained a faithful member to the last, always ready with willing hands to do her share of God's great work. She was reared in the same community as was her birth place.

In the year of 1891, on October 27, she was united in marriage with Charles Cobbler of Highland, Ia., to this union were born six children, Mrs. Florence Scarborough of Fremont; Talma Bell and Alma Stella, who died at the ages of seven months; Charles Orrin, Dora Ann and Alva Delmar Cobbler, all at home. She was a loving wife and mother, always thinking of her children and husband first, sacrificing pleasures for them and lending helping hands to all those in need.

The funeral services were conducted at the residence seven miles north of Ottumwa, on Thursday, November 18, 1915, conducted by he Rev. A. W. Miller of Ottumwa and the R. N. A. 1014 of Ottumwa, presided at the grave, internment taking place in the McCormick cemetery, by the side of her twin babies.

She leaves to mourn her loss besides her husband and children one grandson, Charles Warren Scarborough, her father, Zach McEwen, five sisters, Mrs. Mattie Purdy, Mrs. Stella Clough, Mrs. Hattie Gardner, Mrs. Josie Connor of Oklahoma and Mrs. Alice Darner of Iowa City; four brothers, N. C. McEwen; A. of Oklahoma and McEwen, Zack McEwen, Jr. of Oklahoma and F. L. McEwen of Missouri.

She was loved and esteemed to every one who knew her and she will be greatly missed. Although there is a vacant chair in this world, there is one more beautiful soul in heaven, as she expressed to her family that she was ready to meet her Lord and the family is assured that they will meet her there in future years.
