From “The Weekly Ottumwa Courier,” Wednesday, January 15, 1862, Page 3:

ON FURLOUGH.–Eight members of Capt. Madson’s Co. (D) 15th Regiment, came up on the Keokuk Train Monday Evening, having in charge the body of Henry Shaul, son of Ira Shaul, on the south side of the River. He died of measles, a disease very prevalent and quite fatal at present in the regiment. The 15th has been paid off. It is not yet full, and it is not known when they will move from their present quarters in Keokuk.

(Note: Henry is buried in Shaul Cemetery.)
