5-8-78Rites For Mrs. Black
BATAVIA - Ethel Black, 84, died Wednesday, 4:30 p.m., at Sunnyslope Care Center in Ottumwa.
She was born July 30, 1893 in Wapello County, the daughter of Elisha and Sarah Eakins Orman. She spent most of her life in Wapello County, the last 35 years two miles southwest of Batavia. She was a member of the Batavia Methodist Church.
On Nov. 15, 1914 she married Harvey Ross Black. He died in 1965. Surviving are a son, Forrest Black of Batavia; one grandson; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Golden Eakins of Ottumwa and Mrs. Ala Reinhard of Blakesburg.
Services will be Saturday, at 1 p.m., at the Campbell Funeral Chapel in Batavia with Donald Parrett officiating. Burial will be in Batavia Cemetery.
