Death Takes May J. Long

Mrs. May Josephine Long, 63, died at 11:35 p.m. Sunday at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been a patient for the past month. She had been in failing health the past two years.

Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. D.O. Van Dyne officiating. Interment will be in Ollie cemetery at Ollie.

Members of the family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. Tuesday evening to receive friends.

May Josephine Long was born Dec. 16, 1912, at Ottumwa, the daughter of John and Lula Smithart Denniston. She was reared in Ottumwa where he marriage to Glenn Long took place June 23, 1935.

She had been employed at the Universal Producing Co. and J&B Plastics prior to her illness. She was affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The family home is at 403 W. Adams.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Norma Long, Fairfield; one grandson; two brothers, William Denniston, Cedar Rapids, and John Ibbotson, Columbus Junction; four sisters, Catherine Harper and Grace Shondel, both of Fairfield; Mrs. Cora Long, Ottumwa, and Mrs. Jessie Block who lives in Oregon; and her mother, Mrs. Lula McKittrick, Ottumwa.

She was preceded in death by her father and stepfather.
