Clarence D. Switzer, 89, Route 1, died Saturday, 2:55 p.m. at Nelson Nursing Home.

Funeral services and Masonic rites will be Tuesday, 2 p.m. at Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne L. Bartruff officiating. Burial will be in the Switzer family cemetery northeast of Fairfield. Visitation will be Monday 7 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Switzer was born May 27, 1891 in Jefferson County, the son of Frank and Lenorah Edwards Switzer. He married Annie Elizabeth Duncan on Oct. 8, 1913. They lived on the Switzer family farm northeast of Fairfield for many years and later moved to a farm on Highway 34 east of Fairfield.

Surviving are his wife; two sons, Frank P., Sperry; Warren D., Fairfield; three daughters, Helen Hird, Ottumwa, Eloise Rogers, Tucson, Ariz., and Doris Stukenberg, Des Moines; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one sister, Norene Staves, Fairfield. His parents and one brother preceded him in death.

Switzer was a member of First United Methodist Church, Clinton Masonic Lodge 15 A.F. and A.M. and Order of Eastern Star.
