Phillip Martin.

Philip D. (Dude) Martin, 52, 116 North Jefferson street, died suddenly of a heart attack at 11:50 p.m. Saturday, while he was visiting at 318 North street.

He had been an employe of Herman’s cafe on Main street for the past 30 years.

The son of Mr. and Mrs. Phil Martin, he was born October 26, 1903, in Lexington, Mo. He had been a resident of Ottumwa for the past 43 years.

Surviving are several cousins in Missouri. His father died in 1941 and his stepmother, Jennie Martin, died in 1943.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. in the Johnson funeral chapel, in charge of the Rev. Wilson Hyde, pastor of the Wesley Methodist church. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Orval Myers, Dennis Ellis, Eddie Thompson, Roy Bailey, Francis Skinner and Raymond Herman.
