Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” March 19, 1951:

Mrs. Mary Jane Gilliam, 85, died at 5 a.m. Sunday at the Grinstead nursing home.

The daughter of James and Rebecca Kyle, she was born December 23, 1865 at Kingston, Canada and moved to Fairfield at an early age. She was married to Stark Albert Gilliam in 1886 and moved to Ottumwa in 1893 where she has been a member of the East End Presbyterian church.

Surviving are two sons, William and Guy Gilliam of Ottumwa; 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at the Johnson funeral chapel in charge of the Rev. W.B. Friend of the Pentecostal church of God. Burial will be in Shaul cemetery.
