Obituary From “Ottumwa Courier,” Friday March 3, 1972:

Albert E. Newquist

AGENCY – Albert E. Newquist, 78, of Agency Route 1, was dead on arrival at Ottumwa Hospital today at 9:22 a.m. following an apparent heart attack while he was driving a tractor on his farm.

The body is at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa.

AGENCY – The service for Albert E. Newquist, 78, of Agency Route 1, who died Friday, will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Chapel in Ottumwa, conducted by the Rev. William Rieckhoff. Burial will be in Columbia Cemetery, west of Chillicothe. The casket will be closed at the beginning of the service.

A memorial has been established payable to the Agency United Methodist Church, of which he was a member.

Mr. Newquist was a lifetime Wapello County farmer and had lived southeast of Agency since 1929. He was a longtime member of the Wapello County Farm Bureau.

He was born Nov. 5, 1893, near Dudley, the son of Lars John and Anna Catherine Wallace Newquist. On Sept. 14, 1917, he married Ethel F. Nye at Muscatine. She survives as do two sons, Leland and Philip, both of Agency Route 1; two daughters, Mrs. Marian Dimmitt of Ottumwa Route 7, and Miss Catherine Newquist of Ottumwa, and seven grandchildren.

Also surviving are five brothers, John of Toppenish, Wash., Arthur of Lebanon, Ky., Francis of Omaha, Ernest of Ottumwa Route 5, Edwinn of Flint, Mich., and three sisters, Miss Hulda L. Newquist of Ottumwa, Mrs. Mae Wadsworth of Ontario, Calif., and Mrs. Cecelia Albert of Toledo, Iowa.

Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death.
