Raymond Walker Knopp

Raymond Walker Knopp, 80, of Fairfield, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, at Jefferson County Health Center in Fairfield.

A funeral is at 11 a.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Danny Cary officiating. Burial will be at Rock Creek Cemetery near Ollie.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Friday prior to the service at the funeral home.

A memorial has been established to the Hospice Care of Iowa.

Mr. Knopp was born Nov. 3, 1933, two miles northwest of Packwood, the son of Clarence Raymond and Irene Baker Knopp. He married Dorothy G. Carter May 10, 1953, at the First Christian Church in Fairfield. She died April 23, 2012.

He lived in Packwood community for 15 years and moved to Ottumwa. He has lived in Fairfield for the past 58 years.

He worked as a coremaker at Dexter Foundry for 43 years before his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of the Eagles Lodge in Fairfield.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hunting mushrooms and being with family and friends.

Survivors include two son, Mike Knopp and spouse Joyce, and Phillip Knopp, all of Fairfield; one daughter, Gayle Knopp of Fairfield; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and five sisters, Bernadine Forinask of Liberty Center, Jonita Underwood of Ollie, Linda Greeson of Paris, Mo., Karen Schulz of Coralville and Mary Ann Hall of Forest Lake, Minn.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
