Death of Mrs. Jane Michael.

Mrs. Jane Michael, one of the early residents of Wapello county and a highly esteemed woman, died Saturday evening at 7:40 o’clock at her home south of the city after a severe illness of a few weeks. Mrs. Michael was nearly seventy-eight years of age and had resided in the county for fifty-six years.

Mrs. Michael was born in Mahoning county, Ohio, May 3, 1826 and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hull. She moved to Monroe county, Iowa with her parents in the early forties and in 1848 was united in marriage with the late D.H. Michael, one of the most prominent and successful farmers of this vicinity who located in Wapello county in 1846 and resided here until the time of his death in July 1902. To them were born six children Ferris J., who died at the age of five years, O.H., who was killed by an explosion in a mine in Colorado, H.F. Michael and County Clerk H.W. Michael of this city and David and B.F., both deceased. Mrs. Michael is also survived by two brothers, Hiram and Jacob Hull of South Ottumwa.
