C. E. Widger of Wapello County was found lying in a small creek insensible a few days ago. He had two wounds on the backside of his head and stripped naked save socks and boots. For two days he remained insensible, and then became rational enough to state that when he left the cars a man struck him down near the depot, and then two other men came up at the moment. He had forty dollars which was gone when found, together with his watch. He was struck down by the robbers, his pockets rifled, and his body tossed into the creek, on the supposition he was dead. We glean from the Ottumwa Courier.
