Hazel Canny

ELDON - Hazel Garrett Canny, 78, of Eldon died April 13, 1993 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

She was born Feb. 13, 1915, in Kirkville to Glenn H. and Gertrude M. Aby Crowe.

She was married to Leo L. Garrett on Feb. 14, 1932, in Fairfield. He died Oct. 28, 1971.

She then married Patrick L. Canny on Oct. 3, 1972, at Dunnville Church near Bloomfield. He died Oct. 28, 1971.

She was raised and educated in Jefferson County and lived most of her life in Jefferson, Wapello and Davis counties.

She was a homemaker and attended Eldon Baptist Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Phyllis McIntosh of Fairfield, Patricia Ludwig of Webster City and Lillian Curtis of York, Penn.; four sons, Donald Garrett of Douds, Leo Garrett of Prescott, Ariz., Philip Garrett of Bloomfield and Billy Ray Garrett of Fairfield; 17 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren; one sister, Frances Coffin of Fairfield; and four brothers, Elbert Crowe of Fremont, Warren Crowe of Truth or Consequences, N.M., Alvin Crowe of Pine Bluff, Ark., and Robert Crowe of Peoria, Ill.

She was preceded in death by one son, Maynard Garrett; and two brothers, Raymond and Chester.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Friday at Campbell-Kramer Funeral Home in Eldon, the Rev. David Albert officiating.

Burial will be in the Batavia Cemetery.

Family visitation will be 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Active pall bearers will be Tony and Carl Garrett, Dana Linn, Bill Botts, Scot Curtis and Brad Kincart.

Honorary pall bearers will be Dennis Marty, Lana Garrett, Cliff Ludwig, Brian McIntosh and Cara Curtis.

Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
