Gary Cloke

ELDON - Gary L. Cloke, 56, of Eldon died at 11:59 p.m. May 20, 1993, at Veterans Administration Hospital in Iowa City.

He was born Sept. 29, 1936, in Eldon to George J. and Rose E. Stribling Cloke. He married Beverly McKittrick in 1954 in Keosauqua.

He was reared and educated in Eldon. He formerly worked for Rock Island Railroad as a welder and a brakeman, retiring in 1963 do to disability. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Eldon Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; his mother of Eldon; four sons, Max A. and Randy D. of Eldon, Russell D. of Coweta, Okla., and Kevin of Collinsville, Okla.; 10 grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Heckert, Mary DeGroot and Lillian Brown of Eldon; and five brothers, Othal, Kenneth, Ronald and Frank of Eldon and Charles of Garden Grove.

He was preceded in death by his father, three sons, and a granddaughter.

A graveside service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Rominger Cemetery southeast of Batavia, the Rev. L.R. Donoho officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post 775 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Open visitation will begin at noon Saturday at Campbell-Kremer Funeral Home in Eldon.

Pallbearers will be Frank Jr., David, Dan, Norman, Joe and George Cloke.

An open memorial has been established.
