William Benedict St.

William Benedict, Sr., 57, of Medill, Missouri, died Thursday evening, October 28, 1993, in Medill.

He was born July 18, 1916, in Keokuk, Iowa, the son of Frank B. and Garnet Shaffer Bennedict.

He married Sharon Rose McKay September 7, 1957 in Keokuk.

Survivors include: four sons, William Bennedict, Jr., of Kahoka, Missouri, Steven Benedict of Palmyra, Missouri, Scott St. Clair of Canton, Missouri and Benjamin Benedict of Canton; six daughters, Brenda Osbon of Kahoka, Crystal Stevens, of Keokuk, Jessica Kingcade of Ashville, South Carolina, Mary Stevens of Farmington, Kellie Cossman of Lithonia, Georgia, and Karen Benedict of the home; three brothers, Joseph Benedict of Rockford, Illinois, Edward Benedict, Sr., of Keokuk, and John Baxter of Keokuk; four sisters, Lois Holmes, Carolyn Schulz, Jacquelyn Winn and Vest Todd, all of Keokuk; a step-mother, Alice Baxter of Keokuk; 18 grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, William Baxter; one sister, Judy Baxter, two children, Susan Nadine Benedict and Kevin Dean Benedict.

Bill was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Army. He was a 20-year employee of Steel Castings in Keokuk, retiring in 1985 due to ill health. He had been a self-employed carpenter.

Funeral services were Monday, November 1, at 11 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, Kahoka. Reverend Dick Clifford officiated. Burial was in the Oakland Cemetery in Keokuk.

Memorials may be made to the family for his daughter, Karen. Arrangements were handled by Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka.
