Laura Virginia Jobe

Laura Virginia (Jenny) Jobe, 57, of Sigourney, died Monday, October 25, 1993 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines.

She was born October 27, 1935 at Putnam County, Missouri the daughter of Bert and Norma Clark Fitzwater. She was united in marriage to Herman Tom Jobe at Newton, Missouri on June 3, 1955, and he survives.

Also surviving are five children, Stephanie Kerr of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Sheila Kleinschmidt of Muscatine, Sandra Kerr of Rolla, Missouri, Michael Jobe of Newtown, Missouri and Stacy Lahti of Lavonia, Michigan; nine grandchildren; her father; and one, sister, Janet (Sue) Rhoades if Marietta, Georgia.

She was preceded in death by her mother.

She was raised in Western Putnam County and attended Newton High School, graduating in 1953. She later graduated from Iowa Wesleyan College with a bachelor's degree in education. She was a teacher for 27 years and dedicated her life to educating others. Jenny taught in Van Buren and Harmony schools in Newtown-Harris, Missouri school, and was currently at a Sigourney elementary school teaching learning disabilities.

She was a member of the Sigourney United Methodist Church, Iowa reading Association, TTT, and Eastern Star.

Funeral services were held Thursday, October 28, at the Newtown Baptist Church in Newtown Baptist Church in Newtown, Missouri. Reverend Max Haggard of Mercer, Missouri and Sammy Valentine of Unionville, Missouri officiated. Interment was in the Newtown Cemetery. A memorial was established to purchase books for the library at South Elementary School in Sigourney, and may be left or mailed to the Comstock Funeral Home, Unionville, Missouri.
