Helen Whitmore

Helen Martin Whitmore, daughter of Clifford and Nancy Bell Martin, was born March 9, 1907 near Fairfield and departed this life the evening of Tuesday, June 4, 1991 at Parkview Care Center, Fairfield at the age of 84.

She was educated in the Fairfield Schools and before her marriage worked in the sales department of the Dexter Company, traveling to many cities in the Midwest to demonstrate the use of the Dexter Rainbow Ironer.

On December 7, 1932 she married Roscoe E. Whitmore.

They lived in Oak Park and Glen Ellyn, Illinois, Princeton, Minnesota and Bonaparte, Iowa. The family moved to Libertyville in 1954.

She was a member of the Faith United Methodist Church, Libertyville and United Methodist Women.

Remaining to cherish her memory are her husband, Roscoe of Parkview Care Center, three daughters, Jane Dooley and her husband, Dwain of Fairfield, Susan Ryan and her husband, John of Deerfield, Illinois and Nancy Smith and her husband, Adrian of Lake Forest, Illinois; seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

Her parents and a brother, Ralph Martin preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held June 7, 1991 at 11 A.M. at Pedrick Funeral Home, Douds, with Rev. Thomas Clark officiating. Following cremation interment was in Mount Moriah Cemetery north of Douds.

A memorial was established for Faith United Methodist Church, Libertyville.
