Elsie M. Barker

Elise M. Barker, 78, of R.R. 1 Fairfield, Iowa, died at 4:55 a.m. Friday, July 5, 1991 at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

She was born April 20, 1913 in Mahaska County, the daughter of Earl and Mary Scarborough Ferguson. She married Fred A. Barker on December 31, 1934.

She had lived most of her life in Jefferson County. She was a homemaker.

Elsie is survived by her husband, Fred of Fairfield, 4 daughters and 2 sons, Martha Barker, Fairfield; Marie Carter, Hillsboro; Alice Barker, Fairfield; Nancy Oldfied, Wellman; Jim Barker, Fairfield and John Barker of Fairfield.

Also surviving are 2 grandchildren, a brother, Edwin Ferguson, Keosauqua, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Mary, a son, Jackie, 2 brothers, Don and Stanley Ferguson, and a sister, Helen Ferguson.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7, 1991 at the Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, the Rev. Charles McCracken officiating.

Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery, Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the family and the Maple Hill Cemetery.
