Evelyn Jean McDowell

Evelyn Jean McDowell, 63, of Birmingham died at 7:11 p.m. Oct. 11, 1991, from injuries sustained in an auto mobile accident at the Brookville corner in Jefferson County.

She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Fairfield to Cloyce Virgil and Sarah Verle McCleary Hyde. She married E. H. "Jiggs" McDowell in Fairfield Sept. 2, 1948.

She grew up in Fairfield graduating from Fairfield High School. She was a dental hygenist for several years. She was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, Birmingham United Methodist Women and American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Roger of Mount Pleasant and Mike of Birmingham; two daughters, Roberta Scovel of Richland and Marla Faga of Victor; 10 grandchildren, two sisters, Gwen Smith of Burlington and Sandra McGhee of Des Mines; a stepbrother, Larry Anderson Des Moines; and a stepsister, Bev Wilson of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a grandchild.

The service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, October 15, 1991 at Birmingham United Methodist Church, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham was in charge of arrangements.

A memorial has been established.
