Clifford L. Shelangoski

Clifford L. Shelangoski, 77, of Birmingham died at 2:40 p.m. September 26, 1991, at Van Buren County Hospital.

He was born August 26, 1914, in Richmond to Ignatius and Helena Florang Shelangoski. He married Helen Heston on March 4, 1943, in Rock Island, Ill.

He lived in the Washington and Packwood areas until moving to Birmingham 34 years ago. He was a foundry worker at Dexter Company in Fairfield for 25 years until his retirement. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Glen and Wayne of Fairfield; five daughters, Cheryl Sprouse of Fairfield, Marilyn Powell of Las Vegas, Nev., Shirley Shelangoski of Milpitas, Calif., Beverly Taylor of Atlantic Beach, Fla., and Judy Shelangoski of San Jose, Calif., 19 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert of Brighton and Lloyd of Davenport and a sister, Modesta Deutsch of Brighton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter; and a sister, Rita Lahr.

Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 30 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Fairfield, the Rev. William Sullivan officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery at Birmingham. Prayers for a Christian wake was held at 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27 at Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to Birmingham Fire Department, Birmingham Homecoming Committee or Mass Stipends.
