Lucile Mairet Snyder

Lucile Louise Mairet Snyder, 84, of Fairfield died at 12:53 a.m. Sept. 8, 1991, at Jefferson County Hospital.

She was born March 2, 1907, in Mount Pleasant to Louis Jean and Lina Maret Mairet. She married Robert D. Snyder May 6, 1929, in Ottumwa. He died April 4, 1980.

She was raised north of Batavia attending rural schools and graduating from Fairfield High School.

She lived in Birmingham most of her live until moving to Fairfield in 1975. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and worked as a housekeeper, for Dexter Co. during World War II, and an aide at Jefferson County Hospital for 16 years before retiring.

She is survived by a son, H. Eugene of Keosauqua; a brother, Alfred A. of Phoenix, Ariz.; five granddaughters; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert Dean; a brother, Elmer; and a sister, Laura Curray.

The services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 10, 1991 at Birmingham United Methodist Church, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or Birmingham Public Library.

Burch-Raymond Funeral Home in Birmingham was in charge of arrangements.
