J. Arthur Williams

J. Arthur Williams, 84, formerly of rural Birmingham died at 9 a.m. December 21, 1991 at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

He was born Sept. 5, 1907, in Keniston, Saskatchewan, Canada, to Irving and Blanche Gall Williams. He married Verla Brewer on Sept. 12, 1929, in Birmingham.

He farmed near Birmingham all his life and had resided in Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Van Buren County since July 1989. He delivered cream for Keosauqua Cooperative Creamery and was a salesman for Middlekoop Seed Corn. He was a member of Birmingham United Methodist Church, American Aberdeen Angus Association, Keosauqua River View Club, and served on Birmingham School Board.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Duane of Milton and Regan of Kansas City, Kan.; four daughters, Darrilyn Blakely of Winfield, Kan., Dixie Krouse of Spartanburg, S.C., Bonnie Jannings of Grand Junction, Colo., and Vickie Swartout of Stockport; 15 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; a brother, Robert of Keosauqua; and six sisters, Lucille Doughty of Agency, Marjory Gould of Richland, Faye Dooley of Raytown, Mo., Beryl Kerr of Douds, Beulah Philips of Keosauqua and Marie Kurka of Ottumwa.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, and a brother Lester.

The service was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, December 24, 1991 at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, the Rev. Sara Malone officiating. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.

Memorials may be made to his church (amd) may be left at the funeral home.
