Christine Kay Costello, born Christine Kay Campbell on March 4, 1952, in Keosauqua, Iowa, passed away on December 11, 2023, in Des Moines, Iowa, at the age of 73. She is survived by her daughter Terri Mcvey (Ron Mcvey), her brothers Mike Campbell, Danny Campbell, and Dick Campbell, her granddaughters Tiffany Gleba, Lauren Gleba, Brittany Gleba, and her great-granddaughter Ava Mendez.

Christine, a sweet, charismatic, and inspiring soul, was born into a large, tight-knit family in Keosauqua. Growing up, Christine spent hours playing cops and robbers and cowboys and Indians with her brothers. In her early teenage years, she assisted her mother working at a bakery. Christine met her husband Jim and they relocated to Philadelphia, where her love for the Philadelphia Eagles, cheesesteaks, and all things Philly started. In 1968, they started a family of their own. Family was very important to Jim and Christine, and they always made sure to decorate appropriately outrageous and record years of home videos every holiday.

Although Christine initially had homemaker intentions, she began her education career in 1977 and dedicated more than half of her life to teaching children. She retired in 2019. Christine adored her granddaughters Tiffany, Lauren, and Brittany. The love for a new baby started all over again in 2022 when her great-granddaughter Ava was born. Christine and Jim enjoyed watching sci-fi movies, documentaries, gardening, they shared a love for animals and cooking together.

Spunky and sassy Christine always lit up any room she walked into and never failed to crack a joke and make someone laugh. Her warmth and sense of humor will be deeply missed by many.

Christine was preceded in death by her mother Madelon Simmons, father Ernest Campbell, husband James Costello Sr, son James Costello Jr, sister Sarah Sue Campbell, sister Anna Ruth Campbell, and brothers Norman, David, and Keith Campbell.

Note: Burial in Iowa Veterans Cemetery, Dallas Co., Iowa
