FAIRFIELD - Lester Robert Pool, 78, of Fairfield died at 5:20 a.m. July 31, 1986, at Parkview Care Center.

He was born June 11, 1908, in Van Buren County to Delbert and Nellie Stansberry Pool. He married Margaret Moore May 18, 1933, in Batavia. He had lived in Fairfield the past 19 years, having previously lived in Birmingham. A farmer, he had also worked for Parsons College and the Jefferson County Hospital. He was a member of the Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Jerry of Birmingham; three daughters, Ella Cass and Sandy Bass, both of Fairfield, and Donna Coatney of Marshalltown; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Laura Cowles of Ottumwa and Wealtha Davisson of Fairfield; and a brother, Stanley of California.

The service will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Behner Funeral Home, the Rev. Buford Robinson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Family visitation is 7-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
