Joseph Martin

Former Fairfield and Birmingham resident Joseph Marshall Martin, 63, died Saturday, Sept. 14, 1991, at the Decatur Hospital in Leon.

Martin was born June 7, 1928, in Fairfield, the son of Joseph and Amber Williams Martin. He moved around the country, living in California, Colorado and Iowa, and had worked as a cab driver in Davenport and in nursing homes. Martin lived in Des Moines before moving to Garden Grove three years ago.

Surviving are his mother, Amber Woody of Augusta, Kan.; three brothers, Harold Martin of Agusta, William Dudley Martin of Sigourney and Freeman Woody of Wichita, Kan.; and a sister, Bonnie Johnson of Douds. He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers, Robert Wiley and Jimmie Martin; and one sister, Grace Lucas.

A graveside service was held at 10:30 a.m. Sept. 19 at the Leon Cemetery, the Rev. Robert Cumings officiating. Slade-O'Donnell Funeral Home of Leon was in charge of arrangements.
