Mary Cloke

BIRMINGHAM - Mary Elizabeth Cloke, 77, of Birmingham died at 11:50 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 29, 1991, at the Burlington Medical Center.

She was born June 8, 1914, in Van Buren County, the daughter of Ruben James and Cora Elma Brown Cubbage. She married Lester L. Cloke on Sept. 16, 1933, in Kahoka, Mo., and he survives.

Cloke had lived in the Birmingham community since 1958 and previously lived in Glasgow. She was a homemaker. She was baptized at Round Prairie Baptist Church and was a member of the Hickory Grove Church.

Surviving are six sons, James Cloke, Ruben Cloke, William Cloke and Raymond Cloke of Burlington, Robert Cloke of Fairbault, Minn., George Cloke of East Brewton, Ala.; five daughters, Irma Patterson of Gary, Ind., Rose Saben and Margaret Hingst of Burlington, Helen Walker of Mission, Texas, and Mary Cloke of Fairfield; 28 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Eugene Cubbage and Robert Cubbage of Libertyville, and Charles Cubbage of Eldon; and three sisters, Irene Adams of Oak Forest, Ill., Violet Hyde of Clarksville, Tenn., and Lucille Tedrow of Fairfield.

The funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Behner Funeral Home, the Rev. Dean Grant, the Rev. Ed Wisener and the Rev. Dan Arnold officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Birmingham.
