Doris J. Verdon

Doris J. Verdon, 62, St. Francisville, Mo., died Sept. 18 at River Hills Nursing Home in Keokuk where she had been a patient for the past three years.

She was born March 3, 1924 in Fairfield, Iowa, a daughter of Orville and Florence Young Nott. She married Floyd Vernon on Aug. 2, 1952. He preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of New London, Iowa High School and a member of All Saints Parish in Keokuk. She formerly worked at the Ammunition Plant in Burlington and Shaeffer Pen Co. in Fort Madison. She was also a member of the St. Francisville Garden Club.

She is survived by two sons, Todd of St. Francisville and Michael of Lowell, Mich; three daughters, Mrs. Irvin (Kana) Peterson of Donnellson, Mrs. Eddie (Bobbi) Harrison of Farmington and Mrs. Donald (Theresa) Toopes of Revere, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at All Saints Parish Church in Keokuk with Rev. David Goetsch officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Hills Cemetery near Wayland.

Visitation is after 9 a.m. Saturday at the Wilson Funeral Home in Kahoka, Mo. with family meeting friends from 7-9 p.m. Saturday. A Christian Wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
