Ruth Simmons

Ruth A. Simmons, 84, New London, formerly of Farmington, died at 7:10 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at the Burlington Care Center.

She was born Sept. 18, 1901, at Cantril, the daughter of Gustaves and Christina Khiebler Thieme. She married the late Leslie E. Simmons, on Aug. 24, 1921, at Fort Madison. She was a member of the New London Church of Christ.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Frances Appel of Burlington; one son, Robert A. Simmons of Westland, Mich.; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Florence Casady of Burlington and Mrs. Helen Hines of Keokuk.

The family will meet with friends at 10 a.m. Tuesday until graveside services begin at 10:30 a.m. at the Burge Cemetery, New London. The Rev. Rod Cooper will officiate.

A memorial has been established for the New London Church of Christ.
