Temple Cooper

Temple Metcalf Cooper, 87, of 924 S. Hancock died at 7:34 a.m. July 28, 1986, at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Nov. 3, 1898, in Ray County, Mo., to Simon and Margaret Ann Boone Woods. A resident of Ottumwa since 1920, she was an employee of W.T. Grand and Company for 20 years. She married Virgil O. Metcalf in 1920 in Ottumwa. He died Dec. 1943. She then married Thomas I. Cooper Aug. 21, 1954, in Excelsior Springs, Mo. He died in July, 1962.

She is survived by a daughter, Icel Lane of Ottumwa; two sons, Warren Severs Metcalf of Douds and Elwyn D. "Pete" Metcalf of Alto Loma, Calif.; three stepsons, Donald Cooper of Simi Valley, Calif., Cecil Cooper of Ottumwa, and Lowell Cooper of Tama; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Davidson of Burlington and Marilyn Langner of Fairfield; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene W. Metcalf.

The service will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home, the Rev. Wayne Gjerde of Wesley United Methodist Church officiating.

Pallbearers will be Everett Shute, and Matt, Jon, Andy, Steven and Rick Metcalf.

The family will be at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. today and Wednesday.

A memorial has been established to the American Heart Association in care of Victoria Yetley, 1332 N. Elm, Ottumwa.
