Sam White

MILTON - Sam A. White, 80, died at 1:45 a.m. Tuesday at Scotland County Memorial Nursing Home in Missouri.
(Handwritten: of Milton; died 30 Dec. 1986)

He was born Sept. 21, 1906, in Scotland County, Mo., to John Henry and Minnie Alice Garmon White. He married Ella May Kinney July 30, 1927. He was employed at Le High Rock Quarry in Kankakee, Ill., before moving to Milton where he was employed at Denniston and Portridge Lumber Company until his retirement. He was a member of Milton Christian Church.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Roy Lee of Bourbonnais, Ill., Donald Eugene of Kankakee, Ill. and a daughter, Betty Hartwig of Lodi, Calif.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank of Memphis, Mo.; and a sister, Verna Wilson in Milton.

Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. today at Payne-Gerth Funeral Home in Memphis, Mo.

Memorials have been established to his church.

Pallbearers will be Roy Ford, Marion Roberts, LaVern Gooden, Robert Gooden, Ned Cook and Jim Hargrove.
