Mrs. Ruth E. Gunn

Mrs. Ruth E. Gunn, 87, of 2517 Avenue I, died at 1:50 p.m. Monday, July 8, 1985 in the Fort Madison Community Hospital. She had been in failing health for three months, seriously ill for one week.

Mrs. Gunn was born June 22, 1898, in Fort Madison where she was lifelong resident. She was a member of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the Fort Madison Senior Citizens and the Royal Neighbors of America.

On April 29, 1917, in Fort Madison, she was married to Charles Ray Gunn, who preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1969.

She is survived by a son, Thomas Lee Gunn of Bonaparte; two daughters, Mrs. W.R. (Lillian) Fahey of Des Moines and Mrs. Donald (Bonnie) Hoenig of Fort Madison; a brother, Ernest Johnson of Vancouver, Wash. and 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.

Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, two brothers and a sister. Her parents were Carl Anton and Anna Marie Svedin Johnson.

Funeral services were at 2:30 p.m. July 10 at the Barr Memorial Chapel with Elder Lee Ourth officiating. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

A memorial was established with the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Contributions may be made at the Barr Memorial Chapel.
