Mildred L. Williams

STOCKPORT - Mrs. Mildred L. Williams, 78, died at her residence in Stockport Tuesday, Oct. 9.

She was born in Des Moines County Sept. 7, 1906, to Noah and Dorothea Kniess Landrum. She graduated from the New London High School and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, teaching in the schools of Henry and Van Buren Counties. She married Emerson Williams Dec. 10, 1928, at New London; he died Nov. 16, 1970.

Mrs. Williams was a member of the United Methodist Church and was secretary of the United Women's Association.

Surviving: Two sons, James, Muscatine, and John, Mt. Pleasant; two sisters, Flossie Carrigan, Pryor, Okla., and Etta Owen, Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Stockport United Methodist Church, the Rev. David Kennedy; Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mt. Pleasant. The body is at the Elliott Chapel in New London, where memorials have been established for First Responders, Public Library, and United Methodist Church, all of Stockport.

Mildred Williams

Mildred L. Williams, 78, died Tuesday morning, Oct. 9, 1984, at her home in Stockport.

Mrs. Williams was born Sept. 7, 1906 in Des Moines County, the daughter of Noah and Dorothea Kniess Landrum. On Dec. 10, 1928 at New London, she married Emerson Williams, who died Nov. 16, 1970.

Surviving are two sons, John of Mt. Pleasant, James of Muscatine; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Etta Owen of Mt. Pleasant and Flossie Carrigan of Pryor, Oka.

Mrs. Williams was a graduate of New London High School and attended Cedar Falls Teachers College. She taught for a number of years in Henry and Van Buren counties. A member of Stockport United Methodist Church, she was secretary of United Methodist Women.

Services were held on Friday, Oct. 12, at the Stockport United Methodist Church with Rev. David Kennedy officiating. Burial was in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Mt. Pleasant.

Memorials have been established to First Responders, the library and the United Methodist Church, all at Stockport.
