LELA I. MORRIS

Lela Irene Morris, daughter of Stephen and Dora Kerr Davis, was born March 12, 1895 in Scotland County, Missouri and departed this life at Van Buren County Memorial Hospital in Keosauqua on October 9, 1982 at the age of 87.

On October 28, 1916 she married Phil A. Morris in Memphis, Missouri. He preceded her in death July 1, 1956. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three sisters and one brother.

She is survived by a son, Charles Morris of Cantril; a daughter, Lola Hull of Des Moines; three grandchildren, Ben Morris of Cantril, Paul Ed Morris of Keota and Judy Hull Carico of Des Moines; five great-grandchildren.

All Lela's life was spent in the Mt. Sterling and Cantril communities. She was a member of the Cantril United Methodist Church.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 12, 1982, at 1:30 p.m. in the Cantril United Methodist Church with Rev. Charles Butler officiating. Interment was in Harness Cemetery near Mt. Sterling. A memorial was established for her church. Pedrick Funeral Home, Keosauqua, was in charge of arrangements.
