MERREL S. COUNTRYMAN

Merrel S. Countryman, age 75, of rural Birmingham passed away Saturday, August 14, 1982 at the Jefferson County Hospital.

He was born January 7, 1907 near Douds, the son of Fred A. and Lila Ada Mathias Countryman. He was married to Ruth Tonkinson, who survives. Also surviving are seven sons, Steven of rural Birmingham, Charles of Keosauqua, Gary of Spring Hill, Kansas, Richard, Roy, Doug, and Dennis at home; one grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Hazel Davidson of rural Birmingham. He was preceded in death by a brother and a grandchild.

He was a member of the Birmingham Presbyterian Church, a retired Phelco Foundry employee and substitute rural mail carrier in Birmingham for 55 years.

Funeral services for Mr. Countryman were held Tuesday, August 17, 1982 at the Birmingham Presbyterian Church with Rev. Mary Nolan officiating. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. The Burch Funeral Home in Birmingham was in charge of arrangements.

(NOTE: The birth date of "7" had been crossed off and "5" written in its place.)
